New residential building within Tigard has remained constant on the previous 12 years.
New dwelling units are shown by table 2-4 within town getting a certificate-of-occupancy (CofO) permit from the Building Division. Single family houses, which linked and include free position, hit a high of 335 models in 1995 and dropped to a low of 187 in 2002.
The quantity produced went above 300 in 2005 for initially since 1996. Multi-family properties haven't been as in keeping with four decades (1994, 1996, 2000, 2005) offering 89% of the multi-family devices on the 12 year period. The overall density of residential development is 6.8 dwelling units per acre since 1994, with single family houses at 5.9 and multi-family at 18.9 dwelling units per acre.

New commercial construction is not as predominant or regular as residential construction in Tigard. 1994 to 1996 remains the most consistent time. Looking beyond new units constructed, whole value of all permits issued provides another sense of development activity locally. The totals include other miscellaneous work, alterations, upgrades, basis work, fire safety devices, and new construction.

Residential design valuation peaked in 2001 and 1996, although it hit a low in 1998. The last 3 years have now been consistent at around $80 million per year. Industrial worth struck a lower in 2002 and peaked in 2,000. Last year saw the 2nd greatest valuation in the 12 year interval at around $60 million. The sole year to see commercial value higher than residential was 1998.

Total housing units in the Town of Tigard totaled 19,415 by the end of April 2006. Single and multi-family units are included by this total. The age of the housing units locally is distributed fairly equally. The decades of the 1970's, 1980's, and 1990's all account fully for almost one quarter of housing units.
